Terms of service

Plain terms for downloading and using Amaru for macOS, and for the optional Amaru account. Last updated 5 November 2026.

Using Amaru

Amaru for macOS is free to download and use for your own purposes. Amaru is closed-source software: you may use the build offered on this website, but you may not copy, resell or redistribute it as your own, or remove its notices.

The current build is not notarized by Apple yet, so macOS may ask you to confirm before opening it. The install steps in the docs explain how.

Permissions on your Mac

Amaru asks for macOS permissions only for features that need them, and you choose whether to grant them. The docs list each permission and what it is used for. You can revoke any of them in System Settings at any time.

Account and Amaru Plus

An account is optional and is never needed for the free features. You are responsible for the sign-in account you use. Amaru Plus is a planned, optional paid plan that is not on sale yet. When it is, the price, what it includes and the payment terms will be shown at checkout, and the terms of the payment provider apply to the payment itself. A Plus license is for the account it is redeemed on.

You can stop using the account at any time. See the privacy policy for how to ask for it to be deleted.

What you agree not to do

No warranty

Amaru is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It reads local information from tools and apps on your Mac, and the numbers it shows, such as usage, plan limits and forecasts, are estimates that can be wrong or out of date. To the extent the law allows, the makers of Amaru are not liable for losses that come from using it.

Changes

These terms can change. The date at the top shows when they last did, and meaningful changes are written in the changelog. Continuing to use Amaru after a change means you accept it.
